The Thai visamedical certificate
Thailand does not use the IHR 2005 framework. It names five specific conditions in law, and the certificate confirms that the applicant is free of all of them.
The requirement derives from Ministerial Regulation No. 14 (B.E. 2535). The five prohibited diseases are leprosy, tuberculosis, elephantiasis, drug addiction and third-stage syphilis. The Royal Thai Embassy publishes its own medical certificate form, which the doctor completes, signs and stamps, and which also asks the doctor to confirm that the applicant is in good physical and mental health.
Thai requirements differ procedurally from European ones in two respects worth noting before you order. First, the certificate must be issued in the country where the visa application is submitted, so a UK-issued certificate is correct when applying at the Royal Thai Embassy in London. Second, Thailand requires notarisation by a notary or by the diplomatic or consular mission, rather than a Hague Apostille in the manner Spain requires.

Which conditions does the Thai certificate cover?
Five conditions named in Ministerial Regulation No. 14 (B.E. 2535): leprosy, tuberculosis, elephantiasis, drug addiction and third-stage syphilis. The Embassy's form also asks the doctor to confirm you are in good physical and mental health.
Do you use the Royal Thai Embassy's own form?

Can I use a UK certificate for a Thai work permit?
No. Thai work permit medicals must be carried out by a hospital or clinic inside Thailand. A UK-issued certificate is suitable for visa applications submitted in the United Kingdom, not for the work permit stage.
Does Thailand need an apostille?
Thailand asks for notarisation by a notary or by the diplomatic or consular mission, rather than a Hague Apostille in the way Spain does. Confirm the exact requirement with the consulate handling your application.
How long is the Thai certificate valid?
Three months from the date of issue, and it must be issued in the country where you submit your visa application — so a UK certificate is correct if you are applying at the Royal Thai Embassy in London.
Will I need a blood test or chest X-ray?
Some Thai consulates request a syphilis blood test or chest X-ray to support the certificate, and requirements vary between posts. Check with the consulate handling your application, and send us any results they ask for.
